Janet Schwind is a ridiculously professional author, editor, publisher, artist, inventor, 5-minute public speaker (her theory is no one wants to listen for longer than 5 minutes), and Camino pilgrim. As one of six creatively gifted siblings, she grew up with a love for art, especially drawing—a talent that was passed down from her father Robert in the form of humorous pencil sketches, elegant typography, wildlife paintings, and things like mobiles made from rabbit vertebrae. Even Mom would occasionally quick-sketch her cartoon ladies in fancy hats smoking cigarettes or cartoon dogs with complacent human faces.
Janet always thought she would pursue art as a career until she got to college where she felt a shift and decided to take a different path. Journalism seemed a fitting way as she had always loved writing, too. This led to a writing career in the advertising world for over two decades—until she ran away from corporate America to find and awaken her true passion—publishing. Her role as project manager at a small family-owned publishing company gave her a many-hatted role that birthed this love of all things publishing, helping writers realize their dreams of becoming published authors.
In 2013 Janet had another awakening after strapping on an oversized backpack and setting out an on amazing adventure to walk the ancient path called the Camino de Santiago—a 500-mile pilgrimage starting from St. Jean Pied de Port, France, and ending in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where the apostle James’s bones are enshrined.
As a result of her trek, renewing dreams and overcoming fears became Janet’s new hobby. Next, she conquered a lifelong phobia of public speaking—and did not die from it! She also enrolled in supernatural ministry school where she experienced a personal revival and more awakening of dreams with God. She began writing her first book and even had a dream for a product invention in 2014, and then pursued and earned a patent in 2017.
Janet is currently writing her next humor/spiritual project, Book of Jerry: Bible Wisdom Straight Outta the Bronx. An authentic, real-talk, grammatically impaired, almost-certainly-embellished translation of scriptures and Bible stories in a way you’ve never heard them before—in your face, Italian New Yawkah style. Ba-da-BING! Living inside the twisted mind of Janet comes this brash voice from the Bronx who will give you a little kick in the pants and some truth plus a few laughs.
Janet is an Indiana native living, authoring, editing, and publishing books from her bachelorette pad in Indianapolis, Indiana, and any geographical location she can road trip to in her trusty 2008 stick-shift Honda Fit.
